An article in Big Hospitality highlights that spending in restaurants, pubs and cafes continues to rise, but businesses are under pressure to deliver a super-fast service.
Research by credit card giant Barclaycard shows that consumers valued speed of service (37%) even more than menu choice (33%). And with 26% of consumers now eating out or ordering food once a week (rising to 36% for the 18-34 age group) it is vital that businesses in the hospitality sector do what they can to keep these customers happy.
More than 1 in 10 consumers were found to be to more likely to choose establishments that offer 'contactless payments' (15%), the choice to pre-order and pay via an app, (whether for delivery or eating in-house) (15%), and payment via a mobile device at the table (14%). The contactless revolution really is here to stay!
